The next meeting will be Wednesday, September 08, 7:30 PM. This month's program will be a lecture by John K. on "The History of the Morgan Dollar". October's program will be an ANA slide presentation. November's program will be a discussion of our upcoming 50th Anniversary Medal design. New members in August: Jaleel W. (YN), Christian B., Charles S. COIN SHOW RAFFLE TICKETS WILL BE AVAILABLE AT THE MEETING. The book contains 11 raffle tickets. The club receives $10 for each booklet. The 11th ticket is yours for obtaining donations for our club. Everyone is expected to participate in our annual fund raising event. Return the money, ticket stubs, or unsold tickets at this month's meeting or mail them to Tidewater Coin Club, PO Box 5247, Virginia Beach, VA 23471-5247 by Friday, October 1. Make checks payable to Tidewater Coin Club, Inc. If additional books are needed, contact Paul A. at the number listed in the paper newsletter. IMPORTANT! This will be the last meeting before the coin show. If tickets are not returned this meeting, they must be mailed or returned at the show. Question: What happens to the various items donated to the club? Answer #1 (wrong): Guy C. puts them in his personal "Presidential Collection". Answer #2 (right): The Board uses some bulk coin gifts as handouts to the youth attending our Spring and Fall coin shows. The Board decides to auction some items, money going to the club treasury. The more desirable items are usually raffled at our Annual Holiday Party in December. The money helps to defray the cost of the party. Supplies will no longer be available at the meeting. Young Numismatist Quiz: What is the difference between the large letter and small letter 1858 Flying Eagle cent? YN Adviser, Jack L. Coin Game this month: Bring a US Nickel (1866 - 2004). Be prepared to give a short history of the coin. Last month's winner was Chuck F. Congratulations to Malcolm G. for winning the1930-S Standing Liberty Quarter in XF-45 condition. October's raffle will be for a 1975 Barbados One Hundred dollar gold coin in proof condition. December's raffle prize will be a 1970-S small date Lincoln Cent in MS-65 condition. The long-term raffle is for club members and any number of chances may be purchased. See Jack L. at the meeting to record your $1.00/chance donation. Club members are welcome to attend the monthly Board meeting. The next meeting will be Monday, October 04, at 7:30 PM. (See paper newsletter for details and directions.)
