This month's program will be a lecture on "Elongated Cents" presented by Denny M. November's program will be a lecture on "Trade Dollars" presented by John K. December will be our annual Holiday Party. January will start the new year with our annual Silver Dollar Night and a program by Chuck F. Any member who would like to present a program, give a lecture, or has suggestions for programs, see Fran R.
Pre-Meeting Coin Swap: Members may conduct a pre-meeting coin swap/sale from 6:30 to 7:30 PM. Once the meeting begins, however, this activity MUST cease.
Coin Show Oct 22 & 23: Raffle tickets have been mailed. Rusty and Paul will be taking raffle money at the meeting. Additional booklets will be available, as will posters and postcards to pass to friends or display in your workplace, church, etc. Volunteer sign-up sheets will be passed around at the meeting. Volunteers are always needed for set-up/tear-down and to man tables. Display cases will be available at the show for anyone making a display.
Nominations for Board Members will be taken this month. Election of Board Members will be in November. There are seats open on the Board. Please consider serving your club in this manner.
Congratulations to Archie A. for winning the 1867 2-cent piece in VF+ condition. November's raffle will be for a 1904 Barber dime in AU condition. January will feature a Morgan silver dollar in UNC condition. The long-term raffle is for club members only and any number of chances may be purchased. See John K. at the meeting to record your $1.00/chance donation.
Club members are welcome to attend the monthly Board meeting. The next meeting will be Tuesday, November 1, at 7:30 PM at Tidewater Community College, Virginia Beach campus, Advanced Technology Center, room H-248. (Click here for directions. Also see the printed newsletter for details.)
Auction lots for the November 9, 2011 meeting must be received by October 28. (See the paper newsletter for instructions on how to submit auction lots.) Please give a full description of your lots, including date, grade, and minimum bid.
